These are the documents that require witnesses in Florida. 

  • Last Will and Testament 
  • Living Will- Self Proving Affidavit 
  • Power of Attorney 
  • Deeds (when property is in Florida)

Sometimes when documents are from other states or retrieved online, witness lines may not be present; Regardless, to follow the requirements in Florida, two witnesses are required.

Yes! A valid (unexpired) government issued ID is required to verify the identity of the signer. 

  • Drivers license from any state
  • US or foreign passport
  • Military ID
  • other government issued ID


This is not uncommon, the alternative to verify identity for a signer who does not have valid identification is to use two credible witnesses to attest to the identity of the signer. These two witnesses must have valid identification and must know the signer, and they must be present to sign an affidavit. 


Yes! Physical presence of the signer is always required for in-person notarization. If you have any questions about online notary services we can help you find the way.


There’s two answers to this question because there’s two types of notarizations. First, an acknowledgment, does not require the signer to sign in the presence of the notary. They do still have to be present during the notarization and show valid identification. For a jurat or affirmation, the signer must sign in the presence of the notary and also adhere to the identification requirements. 


Yes. Florida allows certified and commissioned notaries to officiate weddings.

Yes, a document can be signed & notarized in any language as long as the notary certificate is in English. Many documents may not have the required notary certificate which is no problem for us as we have stamps & separate notary certificate sheets that we can add to make the notarization valid.
