The person signing must have valid identification. It must be a state/government picture identification. Identification cannot be expired. Notaries are to validate that the person signing is who they say they are.
Gather the required witnesses. The witnesses must be at least 18 years old. The witnesses cannot have any interest in the documents. Witnesses must be completely impartial.
Due to the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 many facilities such as hospitals and assisted living facilities require approval for visitation of multiple people. Also, confirm their policies regarding staff witnessing documents if needed.
A Notary Public, cannot offer legal advise unless they are an attorney. Therefore, the signer must carefully read and understand the terms to what the document states.
